Jessica Sladek and FeiFan Zhang
March 1- April 6
Reception: March 30. 6-9 pm
Chosing to engage within the form of cooperative studio practice, Jessica Sladek and FeiFan Zhang aim to challenge and support one another’s process as they explore the territories where two individual practices overlap. Zhang and Sladek will create new works in line with their current conceptual concerns, while seeking responsive intersections and the emergence of unanticipated revelations. This process will result in a public exhibition.
Jessica Sladek is an American photographic artist, based in Chicago, whose work explores human relationship and connection to the natural world, and the ways that representation of nature ultimately influence a value system.
Jessica earned her MFA in photography from Columbia College Chicago in 2017, an Associate Degree in commercial photography from Harrington College of Design in 2006, and a Bachelor of Liberal Arts Degree from Carthage College in 2003. In 2017 she received the Stuart Abelson Fellowship, and a 2 year Artist Fellowship at the Arts Club of Chicago. She has served as an adjunct Professor of Photography at Carthage College. In 2018 her work was included in Hyde Park Art Center's Ground Floor Show, as well as solo exhibitions at C33 Gallery and Schneider Gallery.
FeiFan Zhang is an artist and photographer whose work examines how human intentions often result in irreconcilable functions as oddly experienced spaces in the changing urban landscape. She received her MFA in photography from Columbia College Chicago, and BA in English Literature from Beijing International Studies University in Beijing, China, where she was born and raised. Her No Man’s Land series has appeared in solo and group exhibitions, as well as digital and printed publications internationally - among which, her work has been featured by Midwest Center for Photography (Wichita, KS) as one of their 2018 emerging photographers, in Under the Radar by ArtSlant, and Ground Floor 2018 at Hyde Park Art Center (Chicago, IL).
